Auto Bailout - Should we or shouldn't we?

When it comes to the auto bailout I am torn both ways. On the one side, the Big 3 deserve whats coming to them after years of bad business decisions, making inferior products, and not innovating. On the other side, the last time GM workers went on strike, it significantly effected the GDP of the United States. While the auto industry is no longer then only large industry in America, it still has a lot of effect on this economy, especially when things are so fragile right now and a massive roll of unemployed employees could cause things to spiral out of control. Of course the bailout is not a free handout, it is money the government will get back with interest if these companies pull themselves up and do well, but the history so far has been years of failure with the American car companies.
